Our Story

The Park Boulevard Yoga Center

Welcome to The Park Boulevard Yoga Center.
We have all been influenced by the teachings of B. K. S. Iyengar. This method of teaching Yoga postures creates a foundation of precise physical and mental engagement within the practitioner. This foundation will allow you to practice many styles of Yoga safely and effectively. From this foundation we bring the influence of many other teachers to our classes.

Certain postures are taught in every class. Every class ends with a relaxation period. We do not heat our room to a high temperature.

We recommend trying several teachers on a drop-in basis, then purchasing a block of classes when you find something you like. It is important to enjoy the company of the teacher, and to feel good when you finish class.

In 1995 Robert Gray leased a former electronics repair shop in the Glenview shopping district of Oakland California. He put in a nice floor, built the shelving and sign in desk, bought props and opened the Center. At that time it was one of 3 Yoga studios in the East Bay. For the next 25 years Robert taught 10 - 12 classes each week to a thriving community of students. When the Covid-19 Pandemic shut down all in-person activities Robert shifted his teaching on line. In June of 2020 the building that housed the Yoga Center caught fire and was severely damaged. The building has now been completely repaired. The new space for the studio is slightly larger and will has a dedicated heating and cooling system. We are extremely happy and grateful to be offering public classes again.
